Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 14, 2026
FocusDots is built to help you focus. Your data stays on your device. We do not collect, sell, or share personal information.
Summary
- FocusDots does not collect personal information.
- FocusDots does not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.
- FocusDots does not make network requests to our servers — we don't operate any.
- All app preferences and your selection of blocked apps are stored locally on your device.
Information we do not collect
FocusDots does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
- Your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
- Browsing or app usage history.
- Device identifiers used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Information stored on your device
To make the app work, FocusDots stores the following locally, in an iOS App Group container that only FocusDots can access:
- Your selection of which apps to block during focus sessions, as opaque tokens provided by Apple's Family Controls framework. These tokens do not identify the apps to us and are never transmitted off your device.
- Your session preferences (e.g. session lengths, whether blocking is enabled, whether onboarding has been completed).
This data is deleted when you delete the app from your device.
Screen Time & Family Controls
FocusDots uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to restrict access to apps you choose while a focus session is active. These restrictions are applied by iOS, locally on your device. FocusDots does not see which specific apps you select — Apple provides only opaque tokens that the operating system uses to enforce the restriction.
You can revoke Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time. Revoking access disables app blocking but does not otherwise affect the app.
Notifications
If you grant notification permission, FocusDots schedules local notifications on your device to let you know when a session or break ends. Notifications are generated and delivered entirely on-device. No notification content is sent through our servers (we do not have any).
Apple Watch
If you use the FocusDots Apple Watch app, session state may be synchronized between your iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This communication happens directly between your paired devices and does not involve our servers.
Children's privacy
FocusDots does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app does not contain advertisements, in-app messaging, or external links inappropriate for children.
Third-party services
FocusDots does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting services. The only third party involved is Apple, which provides the operating system and frameworks that the app relies on. Apple's handling of any system-level data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data security
Because FocusDots does not transmit personal data, there is no server-side data for us to secure. Data stored on your device is protected by iOS's standard data protection mechanisms.
Your rights
You can delete all data the app stores about you at any time by uninstalling FocusDots from your device. Because we do not collect or store information about you on any server, there is no account to close and no data for us to delete on your behalf.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and update the version distributed with the app where appropriate. Continued use of the app after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
