Privacy Policy — CalorieSurplusTracker

Effective date: July 12, 2026

CalorieSurplusTracker (“the app”) is a calorie deficit tracker for iPhone and iPad. It is built to keep your data on your device. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app touches and where it goes.

What stays on your device

Meal photos (premium feature)

If you use the photo estimation feature, the photo you choose is sent — only at that moment, and only at your request — to Google’s Gemini model via Firebase AI Logic to produce a calorie estimate. The app downscales the photo before sending and does not store the photo or the estimate request. Processing by Google is subject to the Google Cloud / Firebase terms and Google’s privacy policy. If you never use photo estimation, no photo ever leaves your device.

To protect this service from abuse, the app uses Apple’s App Attest and Firebase App Check, which verify that requests come from a genuine copy of the app. This involves a device attestation token but no personal information.

What the app does not do

Purchases

Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.

Changes

If the app’s data practices ever change, this policy will be updated here before the change ships, with a new effective date.
